Announced recently was the partnershipt between Telltale Games and Universal Picture with a multi-year, two-title game development deal, based off of two of Universal’s IP’s; Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.
Telltale are the acknowledged leader in digitally delivered episodic content to consumers, and it has been said that the agreement with Universal will broaden Telltale’s product offerings into new genres and new styles of gameplay, so possibly leading away from the adventure game genre.
"Our partnership with Universal is an exciting next step in our continued growth as a mass-market games publisher and developer," said Dan Connors, CEO of Telltale Games. "We are all huge fans of both of these franchises. For Back to the Future and Jurassic Park we will leverage Telltale's expertise in story-telling and game design to deliver on the unique elements of each series with our goal being to create compelling cinematic adventures paying homage to each franchise."
Without any real news to the nature of the games, it will be interesting to see what they do with the intellectual properties, as from the sounds of it; they will not be adventure games. Keep an eye out for the first video game based season of Back to the Future this Winter from Telltale, and Jurassic Park is promised to follow shortly after, more information will be released as the year progresses.
