A name quite well in comics for the past few years (other than the usual Superman and Spiderman) is an average Joe known as Scott Pilgrim. Scott Pilgrim follows the epic tale of Scott and his average adventures of slacking around and playing in a band, until Ramona Flowers walks into his life. However before given the chance to officially date her Scott must defeat her seven evil ex-boyfriends, Scott's story then focuses around him defeating these evil ex-boyfriends to win Ramona's heart.
To tie in with the release of the film in August Ubisoft have gotten together with the amazing Paul Robertson and produced a game that can sit alongside the film and comics and represent the series for what it truly is, a homage to games and popular culture. The only real difference between how the comic and game plays out is that you can have up to four players playing the game, where as in the comics it is usually just Scott taking out those evil ex-boyfriends.
For those that haven't heard of Paul Robertson, he's an amazing animator, one of his shorts is called Pirate Baby's Cabana Battle Street Fight. Which after watching will make you realise why Ubisoft have made the best choice with getting him on board. As you can see from the Scott Pilgrim trailer below its beautifully animated and plays like side-scrolling beat 'em' ups like Streets of Rage and Double Dragon. Boasting a rocking soundtrack composed by chiptune band Anamanaguchi Scott Pilgrim VS The World looks like it's going to be a great experience for all Scott Pilgrim fans and gamers.
If you're a Scott Pilgrim fan like myself; awaiting the sixth book, movie and now game it looks like you won't be disappointed with what Ubisoft have in-store for us. The game is currently set for release alongside the film on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 however no official date has been announced as of yet.
