Deep Silver have let a little more information slip about their upcoming side-scrolling action brawler Sacred Citadel, set in the rich universe of Sacred that is set to reinvent the arcade feel of classic brawlers whilst set a standard for the future of side scrolling hack’n’slash games, oh, it also is full of RPG elements, really?
As a spin-off of the fabulous action-RPG Sacred, it would have been pretty blasphemous to create a game in the series that didn’t contain a form of RPG-goodness, and so Sacred Citadel is including some of the finer points of RPGs that can fit into the tightly knit world of action brawlers; that means levelling, skill sets and class combinations leading to a stronger team.
Just as any self-respecting game, Sacred Citadel offers a host of new equipment aplenty with weapons to beef up your characters attacks, or armour to deflect against the projectiles of the enemy, that’s right there’s loot all around, best to wash down a days’ worth of questing!
Sacred Citadel also offers four player co-operative multiplayer in seamless drop-in/drop-out with several playable character classes such as the Safiri Warrior, the Ancarian Ranger and the Khukuri Shaman each with their own skill set and abilities.
For those that enjoy the action-rpg series, they’ll be happy to know that the events in Sacred Citadel will act as a prologue to the next chapter in the Sacred story, unveiling a secret about the Seraphim that will directly relate to the upcoming Sacred 3.
Sacred Citadel is currently scheduled for a release during 2013 for the Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and Windows PC, ready to fill in the void while you wait for Sacred 3.
