Last week ended on a high note for all Sega Saturn fans out there as SEGA announced that they're releasing a HD remake for one of the best Sega Saturn games out there; NiGHTS into dreams...
NiGHTS will be released like SEGA's other HD remakes digitally via Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and for Windows. If you’re wondering how the remake is going to look you can check out the new trailer below.
"The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreams… stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system," said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. "We've gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall."
The most recent NiGHTS release on the Nintendo Wii was perhaps not a favourite for all fans of the original, including myself as a talking owl and challenge style levels felt a little out of place from the original. It was a valid sequel and evolution of the game, just most fans wanted a re-release of the original.
The upcoming re-release will bring along improved graphics, a 16:9 aspect ratio as well as leaderboard support and of course trophies/achievements. It also features a Saturn mode that lets you play the original version in an untouched state. The main question of fans out there currently is if the HD remake is actually a port of the Playstation 2 Japan only remake with added achievements, although what I'll find more interesting to know is if Christmas NiGHTS comes with the release, like it did in the PS2 remake.
NiGHTS into dreams... currently has a rough release date of the fall of this year on Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and Windows.
