For those like myself that have been waiting for some single player Bioshock 2 DLC you have to wait no longer, as finally the "Protector Trials" pack is available to purchase. The third piece of Bioshock 2 DLC to date, the two previous pieces; the Sinclair Solutions Tester Pack and Rapture Metro were solely focused around the multiplayer.
The Protector Trials are separate from the storyline, and put you back in control of a Big Daddy while defending his Little Sister against waves of ADAM addicted Splicers trying their hardest to get the ADAM from your Little Sister. It consists of six new maps, which each have three difficulty levels, some new pieces of unlockable art and seven new achievements.
"The team at 2K Marin has been working hard ever since the launch of BioShock 2 to develop ways for gamers to extend their time in the single-player world of Rapture," said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "I'm proud to announce the first of these experiences, the Protector Trials, which takes players back to some of their favorite places from the original game and features some of the biggest challenges that fans of this series have ever experienced. This is just the beginning. More single-player content is on the way that will deliver more of the intense action and story-driven gameplay that fans have been craving."
We're glad to hear that there is more single-player DLC on the way, especially from claims saying it'll be more story-driven, we only hope it comes sooner rather than later, as an extension on the story of Bioshock 2 would be great. The Protector Trials can be bought off the Xbox Live Marketplace for 400 MS points and the PSN Store for £4.99 now, so what are you waiting for? Go protect that Little Sister!
